I really like Beck and Morton. I’m honestly not too convinced Sepp and Carvalho will make it here. Who are your preferred targets for these positions?
avatar
Agreed. He certainly won’t be short of suitors this summer. I’m honestly quite excited for this summer, although I’m not expecting a squad overhaul.
avatar
Everything I have to say about the upcoming season under slot. Prepare to read… Winners/losers (won’t include Adrian, Matip, Thiago, and academy players) Alisson: winner Nothing more to say. Kelleher: unsure Brilliant backup goalkeeper with all the skills to succeed in the system. Only question is whether he will have a lot of suitors this summer, and where he wants to go in his career. Trent: winner Assuming he plays fullback under Arne, Trent won’t play a prominent role in buildup play, but will be influential in the final third. He will have freedom to move inside or overlap, which is perfectly suited to his game. Bradley: winner Don’t have much to say. Robbo: winner Will be back in his more traditional role, and should excel since he won’t be relied on in buildup, which is his biggest weakness. Tsimikas: loser Would be a good fit in the system, but I can’t help but feel his time at Liverpool is coming to an end. Beck: unsure Shown lots of potential, and I’m a big fan, but he has suitors in Scotland, so I could see him leaving. Joe Gomez: unsure Not too sure where he’d play under Arne. We’ve seen him excel in an inverted left back role this season, but I’m not sure Arne will use him the same way Klopp did. Gomez has the ball-playing ability to be a center half in Arne’s setup, but there are many other players who can play in that role. Virgil: winner Nothing more to say. Ibou: loser May come as a surprise to some, but despite his defensive excellence, I feel Ibou will have to make drastic improvements to fit into Arne’s setup. While he has improved a little since joining the club, Ibou is still very poor on the ball. Arne likes to buildup in central areas, similar to De Zerbi, and Ibou lacks the progressive skills and composure to fit this style. Combine that with his constant injuries, and I think he will settle for a spot on the bench next season. Quansah: winner Depending on who is brought in this summer, I think Quansah may be the starting partner alongside Van Dijk next season. His composure on the ball and progressive play makes him perfect for Arne’s system, and he’s only going to get better with time. Sepp van den Berg: loser While he’s performed well for Mainz, I doubt he will ever become a Liverpool-level defender. Despite having possible connections to Arne from his time at PEC Zwolle, he does not have the technical skills of an Arne center half. Mainz has a buyout clause, and I’m sure he will have suitors even if Mainz doesn’t sign him. Endo: loser This is primarily due to his age, but Arne’s system does not rely on a single pivot-player, and I’m not sure if Endo has the progressive ability of an Arne player. I’m sure he can play a valuable squad role, but his time as a starter here will probably come to an end. Bajcetic: winner I honestly think Bajcetic would be a winner no matter who came in because he just has that much potential. Morton: unsure Definitely has the technical ability to become a quality player here, but I’m not sure if he’s ready yet. Could see him leaving on loan to a lower-level Premier League side. Macca: winner Similar system to De Zerbi’s, and we all know how good he was at Brighton. Expecting him to play in the double-pivot, and play a key role in progressing play. Gravenberch: winner Possibly the biggest winner of Arne coming in. Obviously has so much potential, and I think he’d be brilliant as a lcm in the double-pivot under Arne. Jones: unsure He had a positive start to the season, but injuries have hindered his development. I’m slightly worried because Jones has taken so long to adapt to the Prem and Klopp’s system, and he may need lots of time to adapt to Arne’s. Jones has technical skills, but I still think he struggles to play quickly. Szobo: winner Should play a more advanced role under Arne. Assuming he starts in the 10, he will have freedom to drift into wider areas and make late runs into the box. I think he’ll be exceptional. Harvey: winner Same as Dom. Salah: unsure Stats show that Salah’s still in his prime, but I think it is fair to say he’s not been passing the eye test as well this season. I still think he has at least 1-2 top quality seasons left in him, and I’m sure Edwards thinks the same according to the reports. Carvalho: loser Arne’s style could suit Carvalho, but I find it hard to see him making it here. He will face lots of competition from players who are considerably better than him right now. Definitely has potential, but I see him being sold this summer. Lucho: winner I think he’ll do wonderfully under Arne. Arne’s philosophy is built on buildup in central areas before isolating forwards 1v1. We all know that’s Lucho’s biggest strength, and while he won’t carry the team in terms of G/A, he will create lots of chances for those around him. Jota: winner Brilliant player that’s only held back by injuries. Gakpo: winner Another massive winner. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think Gakpo’s main position will be as a winger or 10 under Arne, although he may feature there from time to time. I think Gakpo will start at striker, and the role Santiago Gimenez plays under Arne would be perfectly suited for Gakkers. He won’t be reliable for running channels, and he can drop deeper to linkup/holdup play from time to time. It’s not uncommon to see Arne go direct to a striker from time to time, and Gakpo’s holdup play is very underrated. Darwin: unsure Arne could adapt his system to better suit Darwin, but I think Darwin has one last season to prove himself here. Arne likes more technical forwards, and Darwin’s holdup play can either be brilliant or very dodgy. I wonder if Darwin may play a more composed game in a team that has a less chaotic style of play (Arne’s style is considerably more controlled than Klopp’s, albeit not as controlled as a Pep or Arteta). I’d love to say Darwin will be a success here, but I’m just not sure right now. Transfers: Goalkeeper: In the case that Kelleher leaves, I could see us going for Anthony Patterson (previously linked). Patterson looks great on the ball, but would need to improve considerably on his cross-claiming ability. Center half: This is where I think we need a marquee signing. Pacho has been linked recently, but I’m not totally sure on his ball-playing ability. I’d actually advocate for us to put in a big bid for Levi Colwill (previously linked). He’s not had the best of seasons at Chelsea, but he’s brilliant on the ball, good in the air, and I’m sure will be a solid defender in a better team. Chelsea need to balance the books, and I think he’d be worth a big fee. Another option that has impressed me every time I’ve watched him would be Nico Schotterbeck. Exceptional on the ball, and a solid defender. He can be caught out from mistakes, but that’s because he plays a risky game. Left back: Need somebody young and technical. Heard some rumors around De Cuyper and Kadioglu. Haven’t seen too much of either, but from what I’ve heard they both seem to fit the bill. Not expecting us to break the bank for a backup. Forward: I think we need a young, versatile forward. Some people are bit advocates of Bakayoko, but I wouldn’t profile him as versatile. Summerville looks very interesting, and I was impressed when I watched him last season for Leeds. Nusa also looks promising, and I’m a big fan of Luca Koleosho. Any of those three would be great additions. Once again, not expecting us to break the bank this summer. Here is my squad for next season: https://sofifa.com/squad/1836363 Here is how I think we will look in buildup: https://s3a.sofifa.net/dc37f0e6d1480b0cb3e13da6b415c2db3b3f7adf.jpg Here is how I think we will look during sustained periods of possession in the attacking third: https://s3a.sofifa.net/0b6f680a2e7907fe4e7e0aa41f2a59916aa82a5a.jpg Would be interested to hear what your opinions are.
avatar
I can't give up on him just yet, he deserves one more season.
avatar
Players who finish badly because they lack confidence will not start finishing better because they get a load of hate from the fans
avatar
No he got a ton of abuse and death threats so he's deleted the posts until the heat dies down it's a very common social media strategy when people come under fire
avatar
All of you confident Nuñez-haters; who should we replace him with? If we were to sell him we would get max 55 million pounds which would mean a replacement wouldn’t cost more than let’s say 80. Who the hell can we sign at that price? The “top” strikers - Isak, Gyokeres, Osimhen etc would all probably cost 100m +. Is your plan Jota at st? Danns? Some random Japanese guy? Barca-bench warmer? Gambling addict who hasn’t scored in ten matches? Bringing back Suarez maybe? Genuinely curious how all you IQ-monsters think Edwards, Hughes and Slot should solve this. Bear in mind that players like Boniface and Sesko also possess frustrating flaws
avatar
Who’s sending threats to my dear Darwizzy? ☹️ No matter how many mistakes he makes, he doesn’t deserve this treatment. He’s always given his all to the club, and he’s a likable personality. Also, who was sending threats after we WON the game? I just don’t understand…
avatar
Spot on. It's fine to have opinions about a player, but making any kind of threats in any format is unacceptable.
avatar
Whoever the cunts are that sent Darwin so much abuse he removed all Liverpool related shit from his Instagram need to have fucking bounties put on their heads and have every single bounty hunter in HISTORY both fictional and non fictional after their disgraceful asses. Scum. Not Liverpool fans at all.
avatar
I said he's the most effective midfielder in the league when it comes to making forward passes and making shit happen. He statistically ticks all the boxes while being a very nice looking playstyle on the eye to watch too
avatar
Wonder what happened to BiM? Would be amusing to see him try to explain this one away
avatar
We won 4-2, got to see some great bits of play from Trent, Harvey, got to see Baj come back and what he offers, big Jarell looking great. That spell where we conceded 2 pissed me right off, but I can see plenty of positives considering our recent form and the fact that this was basically a dead rubber of a game. Enjoyed it personally.
avatar
Good to see you back Normz, hope you're on mate 👍🏻
avatar
Doing better, but still have a lot going on. Been trying to get active and stay outside to calm down a bit. Nice seeing you again.
avatar
Well said. Arsenal just won their 26th league game this season. When Liverpool won it they won 26 and drew 1 of the first 27. I think City are more likely to fall off this season as they just aren't good as they were but Arsenal aren't at our level either. This could destroy Arsenal mentally tbh. Losing two leagues and no CL to show for it.

Well no because I don't overreact and tunnel vision onto a single scapegoat, I blame what deserves to be blamed which yeah already does partly include Nunez this season but at the same time he's singlehandedly won us games like Newcastle so you can't just put all the bad stuff on him and ignore the good stuff when the rest of the team has been vastly underperforming
avatar
Didn't realise he was playing in defence and midfield leaking goals and lacking any sort of control of games, how dare he singlehandedly cost us a title by not being a good goalkeeper too Your agenda is getting a bit much now especially since you're throating the tap in merchant in a complete 180 from the start of the season just so you can hate on Nunez more, the whole team has been shite not just him and if the rest of them had been doing their job then you might have valid reasons for singling him out but they weren't which is why the whole team deserves criticism and as Curtinho just posted both our other forwards are still in the top 10 of chances missed, the only team in the entire list to have multiple players btw and Darwin is higher up there because he's the central focal point of our attack which is why he gets more chances to miss, you'll also notice that every single other player for the other teams are strikers and yet both our wingers are in there as well
avatar
Don't need to, we all know your agendas are daft anyway and that in a few months you'll be on a new one
avatar
He actually does though, you're just obsessed with hating Darwin
avatar
Definitely no bias here
avatar
Doesn't even make sense why would Barca want these players when they can't regularly perform over a full season. Lucho has 8 PL goals, Jota has 10 from 50% less minutes. Darwin losses it and hits to ball as hard as possible on almost every chance then talks about how much he loves Luis Suárez (right now he's miles away from Suárez). If they want big moves then they have to perform it's that simple.
avatar
Always felt there are underrated players in the Turkish league but we never seem to go there
avatar
he did not hold back and I loved it hahahahah. What a man.
avatar
Hahahahaha
avatar
Stopped reading at say goodbye to vvd and bring hancko in
avatar
Ok thanks ASAPFos Honestly what's the fucking point in anything if this is your attitude
avatar
And he finally looks happy
avatar
Shaqiri? But yeah you’re correct.
avatar
Quansah and Elliot don't need to be registered next season, they're still u21. We will register them only from 2025/2026 season
avatar
*booking ticket to Ireland*

Hahahahaha

😂

I'm Doing a Poll Participate if you want. Which team do you hate more rivalry wise or in general Upvote: Manchester United Downvote: Manchester city
avatar
All this chatter about attacker outgoings when deep down we all know nobody is getting sold. I could see Jota departing as a potential suprise, but imo we keep everyone and buy Summerville or Bakayoko.
avatar
Cptn Fntstc the sequel
avatar
Team on the up with rich owners. They'll want to spend as much as possible to be in with a chance of being part of the new top 6. Something Leicester attempted but couldn't quite achieve
avatar
No shock whatsoever they were the teams that voted against it hahahaha
avatar
Hey Norman, how are you mate? I hope you're doing ''good'' and have some distraction with your friends, family, hobby's, school and/or work for example. If you ever want to talk with me I'm here for you (and you know I broke up with my ex too about 4 months ago, although the situation was different. So maybe I can give you some advice for example. Just know what you're worth and you'll grow massivly (yes I know these are not the things you want to hear right now (I didn't back then) but believe me you will notice these things in a matter of time. Live your life, and if that takes time that's perfectly fine! Hopefully we soon will have many discussions about who to sign and which formation Slot should use next season once the season is over. Take care mate😜❤️
avatar
Yes understand the frustrations and how the season is ending, however we have a new manger in waiting who suits our style of play and Edwards at the top has an even bigger say in how we conduct our business. Sure there are things to address with the current squad, but, and this is a highly positive one we have the people in the right places to go and do it. Lastly, the standard of the team compared to when Klopp took over is completely different, it's miles better now. We had players like; Mignolet, Bogdán, a 35 year old Kolo Touré, a past it Škrtel, average Sakho, headless Alberto Moreno, lightweight Joe Allen, often injured Lallana + even more so Sturridge, a slow Lucas Leiva, a Emre Can who didn't like the work in midfield, Ings who had one ACL then immediately the other ACL, and never good at LFC Benteke. The only ones worth keeping where: Joe Gomez, Milner, Hendo, and up and coming Coutinho with Bobby Firmino, then Lovren who was ok. Now in comparison after going though the list it's about 16+ players worth holding on to. Arne Slot inherits a team far further down the road in competitiveness, also a modern training ground and an upgraded Anfield.

Colwill is a baller, I agree with you that Chelsea could be pressured into selling him.
avatar
Injury record is concerning
avatar
Tell me then Oh wait is it colwill?

Quansah has to stay. Ibou will get injured, and I’m convinced Quansah is a better player than Sepp. Let him develop in the first team.
avatar
Yet you created this account yesterday?
avatar
I'd have taken Nunez over Nkunku anyway
avatar
I’ve seen somebody say somewhere that there’s a possibility Liverpool may have been turned away from Amorim because he’s known for liking a lot of control. Considering the restructure of the club, I wonder if there could be some element of truth to that.
avatar
One tactical analysis and few stats and Im on Slot hype-train. Football identity that suits us, if he visits Turkey and starts working out, he can look good as well. I think he could Slot in really well.
avatar
Cptn fntstc, is that you?
avatar
Calling him auraless is hilarious. 😭😭😭 He needs to get some tips from Dom on how to be handsome.
avatar
There’s a man with aura!
avatar
Very detailed insight about the situation. Thanks for the summary mate.
avatar
he's doing a very good job with a very knackered squad, I mean look at the line ups he had to put together the last few weeks.
avatar
I honestly start to get worried about our manager situation. Plan A was Xabi Alonso, didn‘t work out. My Plan B was Amorim, also most likely not going to work out now. Plan C could‘ve been Nagelsmann for me but he just signed a new contract till 2026 for the German NT. The options are slowly running out and I actually start about getting worried about who will manage Liverpool next season. There’s big hype about the possibility of Mourinho managing Liverpool but tbh I‘m not really a big fan of that idea. I like Mourinho but I can‘t see this working out. I don‘t think his tactics suit us and I also don‘t think that Mourinho is a top tier manager in 2024 football tbh. Zidane? Ok, I know he‘s won 3 CL titles but from the tactical aspect I don’t really rate him. At Real Madrid he coached one of the best squads in football history and I also think it‘s his aura in the dressing room that defines him. But him winning trophies with a Liverpool in a rebuild phase? Can‘t see that tbh. I would like to see us making at least an approach for Hansi Flick. Yes, I know he wasn‘t really successful for the German NT but I think that was probably also due to the limited options there that didn’t really suit his system. At Bayern however where he actually had a decent squad on paper, he managed to form a team that was struggling under Kovac at the beginning of the 19/20 season to a European force that went to win the treble. Also let‘s not forget he was the Co-manager when Germany won the WC in 2014. I like his way of playing dominant football. Possession oriented and not just parking the bus. That‘s a playing style that suits us abd our philosophy. If he gets appointed and our board gives him enough trust to sign 2-3 players to optimize the squad in order to play his system and I could see Hansi Flick at Liverpool working out pretty well.
avatar
People getting upset about us not getting Amorim, Lavia, Andre, Thuram, etc before they sign for another club Have you ever considered there may be a reason the clubs cools off their interest?
avatar
He's very good 1v1 from that LHS, as he's proved recently, most notably against Fulham. Dribbling past players for fun
avatar
I still have hope in getting Amorim. If we’re serious about him, I see no reason why he would turn us down for West Ham. I’d understand him staying at Sporting, but I feel like Liverpool is the step he needs if he feels ready.
