This is how clubs like Man City and Chelsea use players as property that they can make a profit from. They buy those players just so that they get a Man City/Chelsea brand slapped on and then those players are worth a lot of more than what they were worth before joining those top clubs. Another nasty thing about it is that Man City and Chelsea simply buy those players because they don't want their rivals to buy them so they buy them anyway, even though they know that they'll never become first team regulars.
