I might be mistaken but I think players aren't allowed to fully come to a stop when talking a penalty, even if slightly. If I remember right, that rule was implemented a few years back to combat the shenanigans. Regardless, it feels like the rules are far more strict towards the defending team while the offensive team gets at least a small advantage.

Lol that's a big ass conspiracy theory. We got lucky that the ref wasn't asked to review the play cause he could have overturned the decision, but it still was a light contact, it's not impossible that they deemed it an acceptable call and just decided to move on.
