No Tottenham - manager was backed as much as Conte. The club gave an aging Perisic a £190k - contract , spend £60m on a backup striker (Richarlison) , tried to sign Bastoni for £75m and signed a rightback which he hasn't used at all. Not to mention that they signed Romero and shipped off Reguillion and Le Celso. The squad is very good, especially the offensive players and they have plenty of international players and yet they went backwards. The style of play is boring, very defensive and he simply doesn't want to adjust his tactics, not to mention that they are so over-reliant on few players such as Bentacur, Kulusevski or Kane. The board and Levy are to blame for trusting an over - hyped checkbook manager.

The problem aren't the owners or Levy. The problem is Conte. 45m isn't a bargain for him at all, it is overpriced. Kulusevski's signing is the same valuation, Romero was signed for 50m, and they were proven in better leagues than in Portugal. Portuguese clubs love overvaluing their players. Darwin Nunez: 80 million, Joao Felix: over 100 million etc etc. But, we may be forced to overpay because there aren't that many high level talents that are possible for us in the RWB position, and Sporting probably know that.
