I think Messi is the GOAT, but he's won the award 8 times, and atleast 3 of those wins, maybe even 4 weren't deserved. He didn't deserve to win in 2010, Sneijder did, I don't think anyone who was watching at the time can argue that. In 2019 Van Dijk deserved it but these awards are never given to defenders. And yes he won the world cup but for most of the year he was bang average and PSG did nothing, so he didn't deserve to win it this year, Haaland did. There's a strong arguement for Lewandowski winning it in 2021 also, in my opinion I think he did. I'm not a Messi hater as I already mentioned, but this award is rigged in his favour.
